Flagstone Repair
Flagstone walks,
level and beautiful again.
Loose stones, washed-out joints, wobbly steps. We reset, repoint, and rebuild DC's flagstone walks and stoops so they're safe underfoot and right for the house.
What kills flagstone in DC
Water gets under a stone, freezes, and lifts it. The joint cracks, more water gets in, and within a few winters the walk is a rocking, uneven trip hazard with grass growing through it. Tree roots and settling do the rest. None of it means the stone is bad — flagstone is nearly immortal. It means the bed and joints under it need doing again.
Look at our before-and-after work: same stones, new bed and joints, and the stoop reads like it was always perfect.
Reset and repoint, not rip out
We lift loose stones, rebuild the setting bed, re-lay them level, and repoint all the joints in mortar matched to the originals. Cracked stones get replaced with matched stock; everything else is your own stone, saved. It's faster and far cheaper than demolition and re-laying — and it keeps the patina that makes old flagstone worth having.
Steps and stoops
Front steps take the most abuse and carry the most risk — a rocking tread is a lawsuit and a grandmother-hazard in one. We rebuild flagstone and masonry steps solid, re-bedding treads and repointing risers so they don't move underfoot.
